AN INTEGRATED STRATEGY FOR SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT 2002-2012

The Board's overall vision for 2012 is for a County which:

“ has created processes and frameworks that will enable the improvement in the overall quality of life for everyone, living in, working in or visiting Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, in a sustainable, inclusive, balanced and integrated manner,that reflects the needs of an increasingly diverse population, and its traditions and cultures, and that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown will have developed into a society facilitating the flourishing of the individual at all stages of life, active in and supported by thriving communities, through a spirit of genuine partnership and active citizenship”.

Component elements of our strategy statement

•  An outline of the inception of Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown County Development Board, its remit, aims and guiding principles;

•  A description and rationale of the process from which the strategy has been developed;

•  A statement of clear commitment by the Board to apply the principles and practises of sustainable development throughout the implementation of the Strategy, recognising the critical importance to the County of its environment;

•  A snapshot profile of the County to indicate a picture of the present in 2002;

•  An analysis of the key messages and recurring themes identified in the process;

•  A description of the three core strands of the Strategy: Social, Economic and Cultural development, as well as the associated strategic context, goals and objectives for each strand;

•  A statement reflecting the outcome of a proofing analysis indicating positive impact on a number of national indicators;

•  An outline description of the initial steps the Board will take to implement the strategy;

•  A set of supporting appendices reinforcing elements of the strategy or adding additional data or descriptive material.
